JetKVM OS Services is a small service that runs on the computer connected to your JetKVM device. It adds hardware-encoded video at up to 4K, a shared clipboard, a guest terminal, and file transfer, all over the existing USB connection.

1 The Short Version

Your JetKVM device works on its own at the hardware level. JetKVM OS Services is optional software that runs on the target computer and adds capabilities that hardware capture alone cannot provide.

  • Sharper, hardware-encoded video at up to 4K.
  • Clipboard exchange in both directions.
  • A guest terminal inside the JetKVM interface.
  • File transfer from the browser to the target computer.

In one line: the JetKVM experience stays the same, while OS Services adds a second, higher-bandwidth path over USB for sharper video and direct data exchange.

2 Four Key Capabilities

The first release adds four host-side capabilities that hardware capture alone cannot provide.

Sharper Video, Up to 4K

The service captures and encodes the host screen locally, then sends the frames to the JetKVM device over USB.

Video and clipboard settings in the host service.

Shared Clipboard, Both Ways

Copy text from the target computer and paste into it through the JetKVM interface.

Clipboard sharing enabled in the host service.

Guest Terminal

Open a shell on the target computer without leaving the JetKVM interface.

A guest terminal opened on the target computer.

File Transfer

Drop a file in the browser and send it to the target computer over USB.

Sending a file from the browser to the host.

3 How It Works

There are two paths from the target computer to your browser.

Target PC

hardware capture

→

JetKVM

video capture and control

→

Browser

standard KVM session

With OS Services, the target computer also captures and encodes its own screen, then sends the frames to JetKVM over USB. The device forwards those frames into the existing browser stream.

i One connection is enough. Video, clipboard data, terminal traffic, file transfer, and service updates can all use the existing USB connection. The target computer does not need its own network route.

4 Availability

JetKVM OS Services will be delivered as a separate download alongside the next firmware release. Supported operating systems, installation steps, and device compatibility will be published in the release notes.

! OS Services is optional. Your JetKVM device works fully without it. The service adds the extra capabilities described above.

5 Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do I need OS Services?

No. Standard video capture, keyboard and mouse control, and the web interface continue to work without it.

2. Does the target computer need internet access?

No. OS Services communicates with the JetKVM device over the existing USB connection.

3. What happens if the service stops?

The session returns to hardware video capture without dropping the connection.

4. Which devices are supported?

Compatible models and minimum firmware versions will be listed in the official release notes.

i Summary
JetKVM OS Services is an optional host-side service that adds 4K video, clipboard sharing, a guest terminal, and file transfer to your JetKVM workflow. It uses the existing USB connection and does not replace the hardware KVM experience. For questions, contact service@ikoolcore.com.
